ABSTRACT

An excisional biopsy targeting a cervical lymph node was performed on a 49-year-old female patient with metastatic rectal cancer. The biopsy revealed rectal and papillary thyroid cancer metastasis in the same lymph node. A thin-needle thyroid aspiration biopsy was performed, and the result was papillary thyroid carcinoma. The patient, who received chemotherapy for the metastatic rectal cancer, died due to disease progression about 5 months after a secondary primary tumor was detected. Metastasis of multiple malignancies in the same lymph node is extremely rare. A metastases of rectal and thyroid cancers to the same lymph node has not been reported until now. Our patient is the first case in the literature.

ABSTRACT

To present a case of endobronchial metastasis from a seminoma mimicking a primary pulmonary mass on X-ray radiograph. Clinical Presentation and Intervention: A 27-year-old man presented with a 1-month history of hemoptysis. Thorax computerized tomography of the patient obtained at the level of the main right bronchi demonstrated a mass with a size of 7 x 6 cm and a peripheral lobulated nodule. Bronchoscopic examination showed narrowing and multiple nodules in the right upper and right intermediary lobar bronchi. Histopathological examination of bronchial biopsies and brushing confirmed endobronchial metastasis of the testicular seminoma. This case shows the prognostic significance of distinguishing endobronchial metastasis from primary lung carcinoma

ABSTRACT

To report a rare case of carcinoma erysipelatoides on the laryngeal skin caused by stomach adenocarcinoma. Clinical Presentation and Intervention: A 48-year-old male, who had undergone a gastrectomy 18 months prior to admission for stage IIIA gastric adenocarcinoma, presented with a reddish induration of the cervical skin, lymphadenopathy in both supraclavicular areas and widespread subcutaneous nodules. Abdominal computerized tomography and chest radiography did not reveal any organ metastasis or peritoneal carcinomatosis. A biopsy of the induration revealed atypical epithelial cells with edema and dilatation of lymphatics. The patient was given combination chemotherapy of etoposide, adriamycin, and cisplatin, and significant improvement was observed over the cervical area after three courses. The patient tolerated the systemic chemotherapy well and has been followed for two months. We recommend combination chemotherapy in patients with cutaneous metastasis of gastric adenocarcinoma as a safe and effective treatment

ABSTRACT

To report a case of Hodgkin's disease presenting with immune hemolytic anemia. Clinical Presentation and Intervention: A 47-year-old man was admitted to hospital because of weight loss, fever, and inguinal lymph node adenopathy. Biopsy of the inguinal lymph node revealed mixed-cellularity Hodgkin's disease. Three days after starting combined chemotherapy, the patient showed evidence of autoimmune hemolytic anemia, which responded well to prednisolone. This case shows that clinicians should be aware of the possibility of autoimmune hemolytic anemia in patients with Hodgkin's disease presenting with anemia, and distinguish it from the anemia of chronic disease
